Welcome from the LWVWB: The League of Women Voters Wilkes-Barre Area’s core mission is to help raise public awareness in matters pertaining to governance with special emphasis on the democratic process. In that context we plan each year’s projects and portfolios based on providing information and events that we hope facilitates your choice of candidates and pertinent issues that impact all of our lives. Listed below are some of these projects.

LWV Wilkes-Barre Voters' Guide is published prior to all primary and general elections and carried in our local newspaper. It can help you with all your voting questions regarding the voting process. Look for it in the Citizens’ Voice Newspaper prior to the election in November. Contact League Editor Jim Nawrocki-- jjnawroc@kings.edu

LWVWB Newsletter is published in September, January and April online for our members and provides the latest league news and updates. Email the Editor: Jane Manganella—janem921@yahoo.com. Please note that we are currently between editors so the current issue may be a little late (late October).

The Government Directory is published annually and contains listings of all local legislators with names, addresses, and phone numbers both at local offices and at the State Capital. It also provides an at-a-glance reference to districts covered by each legislator.

Debates and Town Meetings are held or co-sponsored by the League whenever it is possible. These debates or town meetings bring together candidates with the public at large to discuss their individual positions on issues and to participate in question and answer sessions.

The Legislative Breakfast brings a panel of local legislators together with the public each January, at an event that gives people the opportunity not only to share breakfast with a legislator of choice but also to be able to pose questions to legislators in an hour long relaxed environment.

Board Meetings/Social Events include a combination meeting of the Board followed by a social get-together with the membership and the public. These two meeting, the Annual Dinner held in April or May and the Holiday Dinner held in December gives the public the opportunity to review with the Board its plans and projects and budget of the past year and its programs and events for the coming year.

MEMBERSHIP INVITATION: THE BOARD OF THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS WILKES-BARRE AREA ISSUES A STANDING AND OPEN INVITATION TO ANYONE TO JOIN OUR MEMBERSHIP.
